Ujana Rimba Tropika Sidewalk and Jogging

Ujana Rimba Tropika or Rain Forest Park Sidewalk and Jogging located along jalan penampang. It was same as junction to Sabah State Archive or opposite Taman Fortuna.

The facilities including jogging track of 2 kilometer, children playground,yoga area, parking lot and tropica restaurant.

Sabah Borneo in brief - Read First

Sabah, the second largest state in Malaysia (the largest was Sarawak State), located on the northern island of Borneo, the third largest island in the world. It covers an area of 72.500 square kilometers with a coastline of 1.440 km in the South China Sea in the west, the Sulu Sea in the northeast and the Celebes Sea in the south.

With the title "Land Below the Wind [the Wind]", Sabah is not only rich in natural beauty but also rich cultural heritage of its people.

Sabah is a rich variety of plants. The world's largest flower Rafflesia with flowers measuring three meters in diameter were found in Sabah. Many species Orchid / orchid, periok kera and rhododendron that is found growing in the State.

Sabah is a rugged country. Area is mountainous terrain are intersected by rivers which flow through valleys across fertile plains. Many caves are found in forest. Mount Kinabalu, the highest in Southeast Asia to dwell in the height of 4.101 meters. The lush greenery provides a home for wildlife such as the Sumatran rhinoceros, orang utan, elephants, deer, monkeys, flying squirrels, deer and birds.

Sabah is also blessed with people of different races. The indigenous population consists of at least 30 groups with more than 50 languages, and not less than 80 dialects.

The main ethnic groups are: Kadazandusun (representing one third of the total population of Sabah), Murut, Paitan and Bajau. Other indigenous groups, including Bonggi, Iranun, Ida'an and Brunei. In addition, the Chinese are the largest population of non-native. Therefore, Sabah is rich in various ethnic population with their cultural background.

Based on archaeological findings, Sabah was inhabited by as early as 28,000 years ago. Islam arrived in Sulawesi by the end of the 5th century and the 16th through Arab and Indian traders and government revenue from the development of the Malay sultanate of Brunei.

The Europeans came to Sabah two centuries later. In 1775, the British East India Company opened a trading base in Balembangan Island. However, Sabah has been administered successfully by the British North Borneo Chartered Company from 1881 until 1942 when the Japanese occupied the country.

After the devastation of war, Sabah became a British colony until August 31, 1963 when it achieved self-government from the British. On 16 September 1963, Sabah with Sarawak, Singapore and Malaya became Federation of Malaysia.
